Landformers,

There have been several issues relating to D2L that have impacted material delivery and have contributed to overall confusion. I have taught this course about 8 times on line and I have never encountered so many issues.

I am using a wikispace page, because

1. several of you are not receiving the emails I sent out to the entire class. These emails have contained important information, such as the syllabus and the first 2 labs. As a result several of you have been left scratching your head wondering what I am talking about.

2. D2L cannot handle Google Earth files, without a fair bit of work to configure it, which must be done every time this class is taught (just learned this last week)

As I stated in a previous email that most of you received, I will not penalize you for all of the technological mishaps, to put it politely.

Now, to answer your questions

  • You are to type up your labs in a word document and submit them to the appropriate dropbox.
  • Lab 1 is the Geographer Tool's
  • Lab 2 is the Internal Structure of the Earth
    • I have removed the due dates for the first 2 labs. You will earn 10/10 if you submit both of these completed labs to the dropbox by June 28
  • Exams are taken online. Exam 1 is scheduled for June 5. You have 90 minutes to complete the exam. There are 100 multiple choice questions. You may start the exam anytime between June 4, 11:59pm to June 5, 11:59pm. Make sure you submit your exam when you are finished. In lieu of the technological mishaps, I will willing to do the following. Please take the exam on June 5 and try your best. If you spend the time taking exam and answer all the questions (I can see how much time you spend on each questions and on the exam itself), I will give you the grade of 100/100.
  • Hopefully by June 6, all of these technological mishaps will be resolved and we can continue the course in a normal fashion.
  • Lab 3 is Plate Tectonics and this is still due on June 7 by 6pm in the appropriate dropbox.
  • Finally, if you have class related questions that are non-personal, please post them to the discussion board as opposed to emailing me.
